Meet Your OT - Emma Curtis, OT Reg. (Ont.)

Welcome! I am so glad you have found EC OT! My name is Emma Curtis. I am the founder and lead registered occupational therapist at EC OT.

I am passionate about supporting children and their families in meeting their personal goals through occupational therapy! With a strong love for the outdoors, I embrace the therapeutic benefits of nature in my personal life and practice. I have clinical experience in community based/ out-patient and school based occupational therapy with children ranging from preschool to secondary school graduation.  My focus is in supporting families and children to meet their goals including fine motor, participation in activities of daily living (self care), participation at school, sensory-based support and executive functioning/ emotional regulation support.

When I’m not working as an occupational therapist, you can find me hiking the bruce trail, trying out any outdoor recreational activity or coaching learn to skate and figure skating to kids and adults!

My ‘why’…

I have always loved the outdoors. Since childhood, some of my fondest memories were playing outside, specifically free play outside, with my friends and brothers. This was where I learned so many valuable skills such as conflict resolution, leadership, communication and problem solving. Additionally, being outside has always given me a sense of peace, regulation, wanderlust and rejuvenation.

Before becoming an occupational therapist, I discovered the growing body of research supporting nature-based OT services—and I knew I had found my calling! With over nine years of experience in outdoor education and recreation programming, I've witnessed firsthand the incredible impact that nature has on children, even without the added support of OT.

Now, as an occupational therapist, I’m passionate about harnessing the power of nature to create an ideal environment for skill development. In today’s world of endless screen time, packed schedules, and high expectations, I want to provide a space where kids can have FUN while learning, feel proud of who they are, and finally feel good in their bodies!

I invite you to join me on this journey to help your child and family THRIVE!
